| Extended Inquiry Capability Screen Shot PS.NET/WEB Universal Client will operate on any device capable of supporting a standard browser, however the application has been specifically formatted for small format displays, including PDA’s, smart phones and low resolution mobile computers. Due to the limited display space and menu control on PDA devices is controlled with this toolbar, a standard set of inquiry features has been provided. Additional forms can be provided on request. Standard Inquiry features include; Query Person Query Vehicle Query Article Query Gun Out of the Box Operations PS.NET/WEB Universal Client requires only a browser to be installed on the client device to access the full system capability. The advantage of the browser based client is that it requires no installed software on the connected device—virtually any device can be supported out of the box. This minimizes any installation and setup problems and also minimizes the support problems typically associated with computer software. Full System Integration Screen Shot The PS.NET/WEB Universal Client is designed to work with other PS.NET components; including the MatriX message switch and state NCIC/NLETS gateways. The client is designed to support the most common inquiries required by field units; names, vehicles, articles, and weapons (guns). A typical installation is shown in the following figure. Secure Communications The PSNET/WEB server provides a secure connection to the PS.NET/Matrix message switch that in turn manages the connections to various State or local law enforcement systems. Communications between the client and the host server is encrypted to meet DOJ requirements. Additionally the PS.NET/WEB Universal Client application is strictly password protected to avoid unauthorized access to the system. Setup and Operation The PS.NET/WEB Universal Client is a WEB based application. It does not require any software installation or setup on the local device. It does require Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 6.0 on laptops and Pocket IE on Pocket PC devices.. If you are running an older browser, visit the Microsoft WEB site for a free upgrade. The device will also require a network or wireless connection to the Internet or other server running the host software.
